Rhinoplasty (nose job)Procedure - The nose develops its final form by the age of 17-18; therefore rhinoplasty is usually done on patients above this age. Most patients who would like to have their nose operated on don't exactly know what shape they want to achieve. The expected outcome can be made visible with the help of computer-generated images. It is important to mention that these images do not show the exact results of the interventions and in some cases the outcome may differ from the computer-generated picture. This procedure is conducted from the inside of the nose so there is no scaring on the outside of the face. The skin is detached from the bone and cartilage and then reshaped from the inside. After all the work has been done it is all properly reattached. A cast will be worn after the procedure for one to two weeks to ensure proper and adequate healing as well as the cast acts to protect the face. Your nose will be sensitive for about one month after the surgery. You can be back to work after 2-3 weeks. Duration - 1.5 hours. Anesthesia - General or local anesthetic Hospital Stay - Patient may be able to leave the same day, in some cases the patient may have to spend over night. Scar tissue healing period - six months.
Risks and side effects - Using saws, grafts and chisels, success is almost entirely reliant on the skill of your surgeon. Even with the most experienced specialist you may wake up looking like you've gone three rounds with Mike Tyson, and it could take up to three months for swelling to go down. Ear Surgery (otoplasty)
Procedure -Ear surgery is commonly done on children between ages 5 and 10 years old. If the surgery is performed before the child recognizes the aesthetic difference compared to other children, he or she may not understand the reason for the operation and may feel that an unnecessary and inconvenient treatment has been done. The surgery is conducted so that the barely any scaring is left. The cartilage is remodeled and reduced and the surgeons shape it so that the ears become esthetically pleasing. Bandages do need to be worn for a week after the procedure.
